This release focuses on strengthening reliability, preventing silent failures, and improving the overall trustworthiness of Serenity’s core support features.

Version: Alpha 0.10.1 prod.20250902 Release Date: 03 September 2025 | 13:00 - 16:00 UTC Developer: Kieron Skelton

Following the Alpha_0.10.0 stability patch, this release shifts focus towards reliability, safety, and graceful recovery across Serenity’s interaction and support systems. A recurring theme in recent feedback was the need for stronger error handling, clearer communication when permissions or configurations change, and more resilient community features such as daily hug reminders.

Over the course of several development cycles, Serenity’s interaction pipeline has been refactored to ensure consistency, while safeguards were introduced to prevent silent failures. From settings management to wellness commands, the update strengthens both user trust and moderator control by introducing safer defaults, transparent guidance, and automatic fallback mechanisms.

Interaction Reliability

  • All support and wellness commands — including /breathe, /check-in, /mood, /crisis, /resources, /serenity, /unsent, and /vent — now follow a consistent defer-and-edit response flow. This resolves frequent “Unknown interaction (10062)” errors caused by high latency or rapid responses.

  • Error embeds have also been updated with clearer instructions, guiding admins to review Serenity’s permissions and reinvite the bot if required.

Settings Command Improvements

  • The /settings command now includes sane defaults when guild configuration data is missing or incomplete. This prevents failures in new or misconfigured servers, ensuring administrators always receive usable feedback.

  • The updated settings embed also displays the current version and last update date, improving transparency for server owners.

Venting & Translation

  • Translation management within vent channels has been corrected to use the proper handlers. This resolves long-standing issues with "No command matching" errors when enabling or disabling vent translations, restoring smooth functionality to multilingual support spaces.

Smarter Hug Reminders

  • Community Hug Reminders now feature pre-flight checks to confirm guild membership, valid channels, and correct permissions before sending messages.

  • If Serenity is missing access or misconfigured, the system will automatically disable hugs for that server and log the reason, rather than failing silently. Invalid or deleted channels are handled gracefully, and diagnostic logs now provide admins with clearer context.

General Enhancements

  • Removed outdated comments and redundant code paths in several interaction handlers.

  • Standardised error handling and fallback behaviour across multiple commands.

  • Improved audit logging for error cases, ensuring developers and moderators have clearer insight into failures.

This update makes Serenity more predictable, resilient, and transparent in day-to-day operation. Whether it’s preventing duplicate errors, disabling misconfigured features automatically, or guiding admins with permission checks, the changes are designed to reduce friction and strengthen trust.

As always, thank you for supporting Serenity as we continue to refine both its reliability and its care-focused mission.
